Loved the black and white filming of this story...and yes I got the same message...even one person can make a difference.

To me this movie is a masterpiece. The main reason for my opinion is that it captures something that is very difficult to understand about the Holocaust. The Holocaust was an enormous phenomenon. If one had heard that the Nazi's murdered a few hundred Jews that idea is in the realm of most people's comprehension and people would immediately be struck by the horror. However the murder of 6 million is almost incomprehensible. Spielberg did something very interesting that I feel helps people bring that to a place that makes it clearer and allows us to understand and evoke greater emotion for 6 million. When he shows the little girl in the red coat during various parts of the movie we can imagine the horror of one little girl even without seeing her individual story. Spielberg continuously shows up scenes where hundreds of people get rounded up by the Nazis and we get a sense of the proportion and the enormity of the operations put in place to exterminate the Jews. He shows vast scenes with hundreds being rounded up and then he brings it back to a few of the individual situations experienced by various victims. and every so often he allows us to see the little unknown child somewhere in the background. I found that very effective in helping people to gain a better perspective. Every production value of this movie rises to the level of artistry rarely seen in motion pictures. I believe this is one of the finest films ever made.

Excellent ... a MUST see . A 3 .5 hr. movie of a Nazi Industrialist, realizing he must save Jews by employing them in his factory in Nazi Germany. A riveting true story with accurate, historical storyline, absolute EVIL how the Nazi's operated and the ultimate rescue and aftermath. A Steven Speilberg's masterpiece.

Someone mentioned that "there has to be an explanation for this absolute personification of evil," and that this is of course "only a microcosm" of the entire Shoah/Holocaust. Well, it's a shame that Constantine's Sword by James Carroll is available here only in a video summary, because information is truly only available in book form.

The general perception, particularly as taught by Catholic apologists, is that a small number of evil/pathological members of the Nazi party were responsible. This leaves us with no explanation for the scene in the film where children shout, if I recall, "Goodbye Jews!" as they are pulled out of their homes, stunned. Goodbye, of course means God be with you, shortened, but here it means get lost.

The morning after Kristalnacht the Berlin and other papers quoted the Gospel of John which places the assertion that "Jews are the Children of the Devil" 8:44 on the lips of the Savior. Read Carroll, and also Rev Leo Lefebure Revelation, the Religions, and Violence. Lutheran priests marched with the swastica. The "seamless robe" was displayed to celebrate the ascension of the Nazis. Eugenio Pacelli forced the German Catholic Center Party to vote for the Empowerment Act which made Adolf Hitler (born Adolf Shickelgruber) dictator, not just Chancellor. Pacelli was of course later Pope during the war and declined to criticize the Shoah, which he completely approved. See "Hitler's Pope" by John Cornwall.

The point is that pointing a finger at a few people like Mengele is too convenient. The populace was taught for 2000 years to be ready to kill Hebrews. The Final Solution was invented by St. John Chrysostom and St. Ambrose, and only interrupted by St. Augustine with great effort after Emperor Theodosius gave in, to the other 2 "Saints." Also see the movie Agora. St John actually earned the title "Golden Tongue," in Greek for saying that everyone should kill the Hebrews, that they had no right to live unless they acknowledged the Christ, to quote him more exactly.

Another great movie by Steven Spielberg casting amazing actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley and of course Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson plays Oskar Schindler a German businessman with conscience who starts employing Jews with the purpose of saving them from deportation to German death camps all over Europe. The movie is very touching especially the end where there are symbolic moments couple with violin music from composer Itzhak perlman. The movie gets an easy 5/5 from me for an amazing performance and a moving story line consisting of true events. A personal favorite of mine, I recommend this movie for fans of the war genre movies specifically relating to the second world war. @selfhelpguru of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Oskar Schindler is a businessman, who enters Nazi Germany during World War Two to open one of his factories. He joins the Nazi party and fills his factory staff full of Jewish workers for cheaper labor. Suddenly, as Jewish people begin to be exterminated and sent to concentration camps, Schindler tries to protect his workers so that he doesn’t lose his staff, but in the process, he realizes that he is saving their lives as well. This touching drama/history film shows the true meanings of humanity and giving even when there is nothing to take. I would rate this touching film 4.5/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

I really enjoy stories such as these, especially when they've been inspired by actual accounts. They teach me to be humble. Also, the Little Girl in the Red Coat is based on an actual survivor (although in the film she dies) named Roma Ligoka. GREAT MOVIE : )
