Good yet sad movie which covers people's greed, their callousness, and loss. It makes you wonder what certain types of work or life can turn someone into after awhile. It's sad when money or how you appear is more important than your family member. It's also sad that instead of viewing the kid as a person people just thought of him as a pay cheque. As well it brings to light what happens when families get messed up. The kids father got messed up and so did the kid. His mother was the responsible one and his grandpa even tried to fake him out and lie to him about some figurine he had. The kid didn't want it because it seemed to be worth money. He just liked the figurine. But his grandpa thinks he'll make it look good by claiming its worth something. The mother only takes interest in its possible value as she was desperate to raise the ransom for her son.

However it is true giving into terrorists is a bad thing. But it's also not good to use or treat people that way. They get caught between two groups of people and neither is very nice.

Amazing but sad movie. To me I think is that his grandfather just lost his trust for his grandson when the advisor stated that it was all joke and He was doing it for the money. He become focus on himself with the money. To me John Paul Getty iii was at the wrong place at the wrong time. So glad that they recast Christopher Plummer to act as J. Paul Getty. Fantastic actor. Love that movie. Recommend to watch it. Warning, it has Lot of talks from all of the actors. Lol

Excellent. true story. Kevin Spacey was playing Getty when he was cut from filming due to sexual harassment of boys over the years. Christopher Plummer replaced him in all the scenes. I am not a Plummer fan after what he said about his role in Sound of Music. After i viewed the movie I went to Wikipedia to find out what happened to kidnapped grandson. Sad ending. to a life.

Too long, too slow moving, and the ending was complete bollocks.

We found this to an excellent movie to watch. I wondered how Getty became so rich. A bit easier if you do not pay taxes. Some may find it a bit boring because there is a need to pay close attention in order to understand Getty and enjoy the movie as much as we did. Defiantly worth the time. I was a bit surprised by the two or three low scores, however most liked and gave good scores and you will too if you pay attention to the movie.

Based on a true event. This movie is to slow. Christopher Plummer is ok as Getty,Sr. Gail Harris (the mom) is so annoying. Don’t bother watching this movie unless it’s storming outside & your completely borded!

Decent movie for Walberg. Plummer was too old for this film.

There are many outstanding quotes from J. Paul Getty.. too bad the film was unable to write a few of them in the script. These from the movie is just okay in comparison:

You make deals. You buy people.
-That's right. Whether it's an oil well in the desert or a human life, it's all the same. We have to show we are willing to walk away.
I can't walk away. You can walk away, because you have nothing else
in your life. Because there's no one in your life but yourself.

When a man gets wealthy, he has to deal with the problems of freedom. All the choices he could possibly want. An abyss opens up. Well, I watched that abyss. I watched it ruin men, marriages, but most of all, it ruins the children.
===
Ms. Harris suffers from a common affliction among the intelligent women, which is fall in love with imbroglioni. Losers. Bums. Aside from this, she's an excellent mother.

All I know about oil is regular or premium.
===
My grandpa was the one who brought the oil out of the Saudi desert. Everybody knew it was there. They just thought it couldnt be done. But Grandpa found a way. He made a deal with the Bedouin tribes. But there was so much oil, there was no ship big enough to carry it all. So, my grandfather invented one. He called it the supertanker.

Well, I was married three times. First one left me for my brother, second was a fashion model, and then the third, I just finalized. I always say, "You never really know anyone "until you've been through a divorce."
