Each scene was amazing in itself. Gary Oldham performing Churchill 's greatest speeches was a treat. You've come to the right movie if you like a solid historical bio that delivers.

Excellent even though it was 2 hours long. Oldham did a superior job of portraying the greatest man in the 20th century. His makeover was amazing. Be sure and watch bonus features. Winston was the greatest human in my life time along with Franklin Roosevelt and Lincoln. Lots of mumbling and could not always understand all of the limey dialog. What he did for Dunkirk was amazing. A peace treaty with Hitler was not an option even though the Parliament wanted to override Winston. He stuck by his guns. V for victory his famous sign.

Lots of history in this movie. Not sure I got it all because I was tired and fell asleep.

Great acting. A very good presentation of the complex character of Churchill.

Interesting film dramatizing the magnitude of the challenges faced by one of the most bold and dynamic men in recent history. Most men would have cracked under such pressure. Not an easy watch, but an important one.

In the "Darkest Hour" we get to see Mr. Churchill vs. Herr Hitler as war commanders at the beginning of the war. In "Churchill" we get to see these two close to the end of Herr Hitler with the invasion of Normandy. Other great films to help fill in the details of these two events, are "Dunkirk,", "Mrs. Miniver," and "Saving Private Ryan." These five excellent film help give a full picture of these two events, which almost resulted in the end of democracy in Western Europe, which is now being threatened again in 2018 by another white nationalist movement.

An riveting account of the early days of the Winston Churchill's tenure as Prime Minister during a pivotal period of WWII. Not completely factual, and with one scene that seemed to be out of sync with the rest of the film, it was an interesting look at Churchill and his decisions in how to react to the Nazi Germany invasion of Europe. Worth a watch just to see Gary Oldman become Churchill.

Was not the best actor I have ever seen pay Churchill. But loved the story.

I give this 4.5 stars, but only because I know that some people may not find interesting a movie of talking heads, but this is exciting historic drama of a person, place and time that is well-documented. There is one scene which is obviously fictional, and some of the private conversations can only be witnessed reported by one or other of the parties. For the most part, you have a sense that this was what it was like in democracy's Darkest Hour.

"At this critical junction for the empire we have a drunkard at the wheel. Wakes with a scotch, bottle of champagne for lunch, another one at dinner. Brandy and port until the wee hours. I would not let him borrow my bicycle".
