Very interesting portrayal of an complex artistic genius who captured the attention of generations of readers. Apt title for an enigma--- the likes of which we may never see again. BRAVO!

Excellent portrayal of J. D. Salinger and the lifelong effects of World War II upon such a talented man. We have all probably read "Catcher in the Rye" and knew that Salinger stopped publishing and became a virtual recluse, but many of us are / were unaware of his history and that he credited his preoccupation with Holden Caulfield for getting him through the horrors of war. Highly recommend. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Hoult delivers a very grown up performance of one of America's greatest and yet least known novelist's; his reluctance to be popularized by society, his struggled search for peace and the willingness to give up ever publishing another word and live solely in, of and for his own form of Truth.

This is an interesting and involving biopic of the reclusive author of Catcher in the Rye. I found it attractively filmed and giving enough insight into his life, WW2 experiences, struggles with getting published, creative process and personal life.
