I tried hard, but to no avail... yawn...

This is actually a very rich and full of emotions story. On the surface it's another boy meets girl theme. But there's more. He's a simple sensitive Canadian man, stricken by the death of his father. She's a married woman in the Hasidic community in Montreal (orthodox Judaism), yearning to break free
They find many obstacles in their story, but the forces of romantic nature are way too strong..as in the top comment, a Canadian gem.

A deep and very intimate gaze in the lives of two people so different that they would otherwise pass each other like ships at night.

VERY well made, full of subtle details, and realistic; those who have lived in Montreal can attest.

A gem of Canadian film.

I was hopeful but it was slow and ended abruptly and oddly, leaving you to wonder "so, what happened?". Maybe something was lost in the translation from French Canadian to English subtitles. It could of been great but fell short. Just because Felix et Maria's lives were boring does not mean the movie had to be.

tender, understated, bittersweet
a nuanced romance of two souls yearning to escape the bonds and bounds of family and heritage. the risks and hopes of connection do not remove the burden of internalized mores - religious or non.

Hadas Yaron in another good role - Fill the Void

In the film I like the view of St. Lawrence River with the painting style of Gustav Klimt.
