Need to find appropriate Canadian information. For example: equivalent government saving programs, etc.

Agree with Margaret. This book give you a lot of good ideas on how to do with money, even though most of the cases explained are for US residence. Worth reading.

I really enjoy Orman and this is her best title yet. It is simple and straightforward, and provides a solid foundation for financial planning. Her chapter on family is one of the best in the book, with plenty of good ideas regarding allowance, etc.

The only real drawback is that the retirement section is very US-centric (lots of talk about Roth IRAs and 401ks). Still, a lot of the info is fairly applicable to Canadians if you keep in mind that 401k plans are similar to RRSPs, and that IRAs and TFSAs are almost the same.

Bottom line: it is a great, comprehensive intro to financial planning, but written for a US audience.
